At Queenwood, wellbeing is not an isolated initiative. It is the thread that runs through every classroom, playground, rehearsal, and tutor group. It is part of our pedagogy, our relationships, our decision-making, and our daily rhythms. Wellbeing at Queenwood means living with Truth, standing with Courage, and committing to the Service of others.

Since the start of 2025, we have been working in partnership with AISNSW to construct and deliver a Whole School Wellbeing Framework that reflects these values and supports the holistic development of every student. This new framework brings together decades of experience, the latest evidence in social-emotional learning (SEL), and the voices of our staff and students.

Crucially, the framework is designed to be shared with all stakeholders; students, staff, parents, and the wider community. The overarching mission of the framework has been encapsulated in the following; ‘Wellbeing at Queenwood means living with Truth, standing with Courage, and committing to the Service of others’. Leaning into our school values, and embracing common language across all settings and all year groups, our vision is that all Queenwood community members can speak the same language of wellbeing. When a Year 9 student and a Kindergarten teacher both understand what it means to “stand with Courage,” we foster a culture of clarity, trust, and unity.

Core to the Whole School Framework is also introducing a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to ensure that care is tailored and responsive. Around 80% of students will thrive within Tier 1, where universal strategies such as a positive school climate, meaningful teacher-student relationships, and consistent expectations create a strong foundation. An additional 15% will benefit from more targeted Tier 2 support such as small-group interventions, while approximately 5% will need the intensive, individualised strategies of Tier 3. This structure ensures that every student’s needs are recognised, and no one is left behind.

What does this look like in practice? It looks like a tutor who greets every student by name, checks in on Monday mornings, and creates moments for bonding throughout the week. It looks like a Year 5 classroom where respectful disagreement is modelled and discussed. It looks like a Year 12 student stepping up to mentor a younger peer, or a Year 7 girl reflecting on the courage it takes to try something new. It looks like teachers who know their students well enough to notice when something’s not quite right, and who have the tools to respond.

Our values are not just aspirations. They are active, lived, and visible. We live with Truth when we act with integrity, even when no one is watching. We stand with Courage when we speak out, take risks, and persevere. We commit to Service when we lift others up and contribute to the world beyond ourselves. These are not just lessons for school but rather they are lessons for life.

This new framework affirms what we have always believed: wellbeing is everyone’s responsibility. As we move forward, we will continue to strengthen the structures, language and culture that enable our students to flourish as learners, and as people of character, compassion, and purpose.
