Junior School Sport

"At Queenwood, we recognise the importance of health and physical activity in the development of well-rounded individuals and aim to foster a passion for being active. This means providing opportunities for enjoyment, developing skills across a range of sports and displaying good sportsmanship. We also aim to extend those who have a stronger competitive spirit."

MRS SHARON JOHNSTON

House Carnivals

Swimming, cross country and athletics carnivals are held each year. Whilst the emphasis is on participation, top place-getters are acknowledged through ribbons, cups and certificates. Students are selected to represent Queenwood at the inter-school level.

Sport Pathways

Queenwood Junior School is a member of the Independent Primary Schools Heads Association (IPSHA), which is the governing body for our inter-school sport program and pathway for talented ath-letes to compete at higher levels.

Inter-school sport is available to students in Years 4 to 6, with a different sport offered each term. Matches are played on Saturday mornings at a range of venues and a training session is held during the week.

Queenwood enters teams across divisions in the IPSHA competitions. This enables students to com-pete at an appropriate level to effectively play and develop their skills.

IPSHA also provides a pathway for elite athletes to compete at higher levels. This process is applied to individuals as well as team sports. The elite sporting pathway is: IPSHA > CIS > NSWPSSA > SSA
