The QPA plays an important role in how the school progresses and some of the decisions that are made during your girls’ schooling, so it is a good idea to understand what we do and how we can help you and your daughters.

The role of the QPA is to work alongside the school’s Principal, Executives and staff and to bridge the gap between home and school. In this sense, we are a link between the school and the parents. We also organise social gathering and activities to help create a real sense of community, support and friendship.

This year we have welcomed new QPA Committee members and introduced new roles to reflect these strong school community values. Alongside our Junior School and Senior School coordinators, we now have an Event and Philanthropy coordinator, a Sustainability coordinator, and a Corporate Social Responsibility coordinator who work tirelessly for QPA to be a force for good. Meanwhile our Chair, Deputy Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and Trybooking coordinator help run the day-to-day operations.

Typically, new members join in as general members. These two positions are a good transition into action and help new members familiarise themselves with the committee functions and duties for a year before they step into a coordinator or admin role.

As part of our succession planning process, we are always trying to inspire more volunteers. We hope that this introduction will give you some insight into who we are and what we do, and will encourage you to reach out to support us and assist as you see fit.

The last two years have been very challenging with COVID-19 restrictions and, despite some necessary precautions remaining in place, we are slowly ramping up events and gatherings including on school grounds.

This year the QPA has introduced WhatsApp groups for each school year to facilitate communication and organisation of social gatherings and school errands. It has proven immensely useful and contributed to many get togethers and the running of smooth day-to-day activities, especially in Junior School.

To date, we have facilitated 27 events through QPA Trybooking, amongst which was the very successful QPA cocktail party in March this year. It was attended by over 130 parents who also generously contributed to a book donation for the School library. It was our first event at the School in over two years and what a joy to be able to socialise in person again!

We are indeed looking forward to meeting some of you face to face for the first time and reconnecting with many. Stay tuned on more activities being advertised in this newsletter and thank you for your patience, on-going support, and commitment toward the Queenwood community.
