Her leadership philosophy centres on growing the capacity, confidence, and conviction of educators, creating school cultures where innovation, excellence, and meaningful relationships can thrive.
Since joining Queenwood School for Girls, McConaghy has continued to champion a people-first approach to leadership, investing heavily in staff development, coaching, and mentoring. McConaghy’s impact extends well beyond the schools she has led. One of her most significant professional achievements has been mentoring and supporting emerging female leaders throughout their careers. Many educators she has coached and developed now lead schools and organisations of their own, extending her influence across the education sector and ensuring future generations of leaders continue to thrive.
McConaghy has also played a prominent role in advancing girls’ education globally. As a board member of the International Coalition of Girls’ Schools (ICGS), which connects 550 schools across 21 countries and represents more than 350,000 students, she has helped strengthen international collaboration and advocacy for girls’ education. She previously served as Board President of the Alliance of Girls’ Schools Australasia, further contributing to the advancement of educational opportunities and outcomes for young women.
The Educator’s research team received nominations for the sixth annual Most Influential Educators list between 2 and 27 March 2026. Candidates were assessed across four key criteria: educational leadership, demonstrated impact on students and school communities, recognition through awards and industry achievements, and innovation driving the education profession forward. Nominees were evaluated based on the overall impact of their contributions, with the final list comprising 41 professionals whose achievements have significantly influenced the Australian education industry.
