Amanda Bell is immediate past Principal of The Women’s College within the University of Sydney and previously Principal of Brisbane Girls Grammar School. She is currently Chair of Queenwood School, a Director on the Art Exhibitions Australia Board, and a member of the Advisory Board for the Chau Chak Wing Museum at the University of Sydney and the Ramsay Centre’s Postgraduate Scholarships Selection Panel.
Amanda has also held numerous board and committee positions during her career, including Chair of the UTS International Centre for Youth Futures, the Rhodes Scholarship Trust (NSW) and Deputy Chair of the Queensland Art Gallery & GoMA. She is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. In 2007 she was a state finalist in the Telstra Business Women’s Awards. She also won an Australian Government Award for Excellence as a Principal in 2008 and in 2011 was nominated by the Queensland Government’s Office for Women for inclusion in their 100 Years of Women’s Achievements register for her leadership in education.
In 2017 Amanda was named a Member in the Order of Australia for significant service to education as a leader and academic, particularly to young women, and to the visual arts.
