Main Overview
Queenwood is at the forefront of new technology used in schools. The integration of technology into everyday learning at Queenwood, from the most junior years, gives students the skills and confidence to adopt and use a variety of technologies and media that are part of modern society. Technical mastery is the natural result of familiarity gained from regular use of computers using the internet, multimedia software, touch screen SmartBoards, robotics software and databases.
In Senior School students learn computing skills in each subject area. These information and technology skills can be incorporated through spreadsheets and graphics in Maths, databases in Geography, internet research skills in History, composition programs in Music, multimedia in Social Science and graphics in Art and Technology subjects.
Students choosing to specialise in later years explore website design, video production and database projects, with HSC Information Processes and Technology students advancing their working knowledge of computing for application in their tertiary studies and careers.
In addition to five modern computer labs, Queenwood also has computers and innovative SmartBoards in classrooms taking teacher/student interaction to a new level. With touch screen control the SmartBoards can operate not only as high-tech whiteboards, but also serve as giant interactive computer screens where teachers can bring up information from internet sites or other sources for class discussion and demonstrations.
