Overview
A sense of family is an outstanding characteristic of Queenwood and this is upheld by the work of the Queenwood Parents' Association (QPA). All Queenwood parents are invited to join the QPA that is organised by a committee of parents.
The many activities of the QPA keep alive the link between families and the School. It provides an avenue for communication but does much more in bringing people together through fundraising activities, social functions and parent support groups in sport, drama and music.
The creativity and energy displayed by the QPA in staging major fundraising events has helped the school with significant donations towards facilities and developments in areas such as technology, playground equipment and classroom resources.
The social activities of the QPA are the key to creating the sense of family within the School. A cocktail party at the beginning of each year welcomes new families and brings together old friends.
The QPA coordinates class representatives who arrange Year group activities to help keep parents in touch through morning teas, dinners and in Junior School Father/Daughter days. Class representatives also coordinate class contact lists and coordinate parent helpers if required for Junior school excursions.
The Queenwood Parents' Association is the official parents' association of Queenwood School for Girls. It is a democratic group, governed by a constitution and is administered by an elected committee of 15 members. There are five sub committees.
The objectives of the Association include:
Parents meet once a term for general meetings. The QPA Committee meeting is held on the first Wednesday of the month during term time.
