National Snow Sports champions

Congratulations to the Queenwood Division 3 Moguls team of Saskia Hartog, Kasha Wojick and Sophie Rolph who came first at the National Snow Sports Championships. Kasha Wojick also came first overall in the Division 3 Moguls.

Robo Cup success

The design and operational skills of Rebecca Mackenzie, Samantha Woodforde and Sasha Lesiuk were recognised when they gained second place in the state in the recent Robo Cup. The competition involves students building a robot then making it dance in front of a panel of judges. Following their first round success, the Queenwood team is now set to compete against students from China and New Zealand in the finals on 19 and 20 September.

NSW Futsal State Championships

Congratulations to two Queenwood teams who have qualified for the NSW Futsal State Championships. Futsal is a type of indoor soccer played on a basketball court. The Under 14 team, who won their regional Northern Beaches competition, will play on 12 August and the Under 19 team, who were runners-up in the Northern Beaches competition, will play on 7 September.

Congratulations to the teams on their success so far and best of luck for the NSW State Championships.

Red Shield Appeal

Congratulations to the 200 Queenwood students and 10 staff members who volunteered as collectors in the Red Shield Doorknock Appeal for the Salvation Army on Sunday 24 May. The Queenwood girls collected $24,500 covering an area from Taronga Zoo to the Spit. Thanks to everyone involved for their great effort and special acknowledgement to the Year 12 team who looked after the younger students and ran the centre at school on the day.

Year 12 HSC and IB Results

The strong results of the Year 12 students of 2008 in the Higher School Certificate and International Baccalaureate reflect the hard work and commitment shown by this year group. Many personal best results were achieved and were the culmination of focused preparation by the students with the support of dedicated teachers.
