Overview

A sense of belonging is the essence of a happy school life and Queenwood's commitment to catering to the emotional as well as mental and physical wellbeing of its students is demonstrated in its comprehensive pastoral care program.

In Junior School young students are teamed with buddies in higher years to support them. PDPHE classes cover issues such as self-esteem, health and body awareness, peer group pressure and responsibilities. An innovative program named Peer Sport sees Year 6 students working in pairs to lead small groups of younger students in activities such as skipping to combine fitness and friendship.

In Senior School each Year has a Year Co-ordinator, a point of contact for girls and their families. All Year 7 students take part in a Peer Support program to help ease the transition to Senior School, with specially trained Year 10 students acting as their guides.

In the final years of school each student has a teacher mentor who they can turn to for advice and guidance.

Queenwood has an anti-bullying policy which is strictly adhered to and mediation and support is available should the need arise.

A school counsellor is available to students and families. As the wellbeing of students is considered a shared responsibility between families and school, Queenwood holds information nights covering issues relevant to parenting providing information and a forum for parents with questions or concerns.
