School Structure

Queenwood offers classes from Kindergarten though to Year 12 when students sit for the Higher School Certificate or the International Baccalaureate.

Adhering to a policy of quality education, the total school size is limited to 800 students optimising a personal approach to teaching. There are 300 students in the Junior School and 500 in Senior School.

The teacher/student ratio is of prime importance with an emphasis on keeping class sizes to a level that enables maximum teacher/ student interaction.

In Junior School there are 20 students in each of the two Kindergarten classes, with 21-22 pupils in Year 1 and 2 classes. In the higher Junior years the classes are typically between 23 and 25 students, with 25 the maximum number taken.

In Senior School there are four Year 7 and 8 classes each with 24 students. Class sizes vary from Year 9 onwards as more subject choices are offered, influencing the mix of class sizes, with some classes small tutorial style groups in specialist subjects in later years.
